Dr. Fasheun was overthrown by a faction led by Comrade Dare Adesope. Adesope's reason for their action was that the group has lost trust and believe in the leadership of Dr. Fasehun. They accused him of throwing the group into politics and crisis, a behaviour that's against their core value.
Adesope confirms that he has the support of some OPC members, he believes the group was not created to run a monarch style of leadership. He wonders why one person will be running the affairs of the group for 20 years.
“Fasheun is no more the president of OPC and he was removed because of his reprehensible act and that it is high time the Yoruba leaders joined forces with the new leadership of the congress to move the region forward.”
Speaking about the further plans, he claimed that the new management of the OPC would act in consonance with the 1999 Constitution, as opposed to “autocracy where one person took all the decisions on behalf of the organisation without consulting the National Executive Council”.
