UK: An NHS Consultant Retires With £1.9M Pension Payout Only To Be Rehired Days Later With Much Higher Salary

Basil Fozard, 59,  has been employee of National Health Service (NHS) since 1992 and was made medical director in 2013 at Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Why is he in the news?  because he pulled a fraudulent fast one on UK tax payers.

He retired in June 2015 and was paid £1.9 Million as his pension payout only to be rehired for the same position the following month, July 2015 with slight difference in new job specification. Not only that he was rehired he got astonishing pay rise too, from £135,000-a-year when he retired to £152,000-a-year, 17K pay rise by a hospital that is struggling financially.

Top health bosses are asking for answers and the Secretary of State, Jeremy Hunt is taking steps to make the pension regulation more stricter.
