Europe Set To Mandate Inbuilt Emergency auto-dialer In All Vehicles By 2018
About 25,700 people died driving on European roads in 2014. The European parliament however has responded to the calamity by voting in the European parliament to make it mandatory for all new passenger cars/ trucks to have an in-built auto-dialing system that will ring the respective country's emergency service like 112 or 911 when emergency arises. This new legislation will be coupled with standard options for all vehicles sold after March 2018, MEP Olga Sehnalova said in a statement.
The plan is projected to reduce emergency response time by 40% in urban areas and by 50% in rural areas. Death toll too will be reduce by 10% but this option will add additional $100 to vehicle cost.
