Diabetes Got Former Tottenham Hotspur Player 30Inches Scar on His Leg



Former Tottenham Hotspur player, Gary Mabbutt almost lost his leg to diabetes after he woke up in the middle of the night to a cold leg. His diabetes has deteriorated so bad that he required many artery on his leg to be to be replaced. 


Gary 53, was diagnosed with diabetes when he was 17, the condition has gotten horse. Surgeons were able to save Mabbutt's left leg by replacing his main artery with vein which left his left leg with 30inch scar and 12 staples. 

The former Hotspur captain and FA cup winner said the following speaking to Sun :

'When they talked about battling to save my leg, I realised I was helpless. As a diabetic you know complications can occur.

But you think "It's never going to happen to me". It is vital to educate everyone with diabetes how to take care of themselves.
