Adeola Fayehun of Sahara Reporters has decided to end her show on Sahara Reporters 'Keeping It Real With Adeola', over her encounter with Pres. Robert Mugabe in Abuja shortly after the Presidential Inauguration of Pres. Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. The encounter has attracted severe backlash, and ignited controversial debate online/offline.
In the unedited video, she persistently tried to interview Pres. Mugabe, he didn't say a word in response to her questions. 'When is there going to be democracy in Zimbabwe', 'when are you going to step down' she ask him consistently. Pres. Mugabe has been the president of Zimbabwe for about 35 years, since the country's independence from the UK. Her question seems to have anger a lot people, she was even accused of carrying out an agenda organised by the United States.
Though she agrees with her critics that asking Mugabe when he will step down was wrong but isn't responsible for her decision to discontinue the show but her statement towards the end of the video where said 'He's (Mugabe) too old', she thinks the statement is inappropriate even though she didn't mean it in bad taste.
