Nigerian Military Gets First DNA Centre 'Defence Identification Centre'

About 46 Nigerian Army died in a car accident around Bauchi when their vehicle collided with a fuel tanker. All the 46 army were burnt beyond recognition. Because of this the Federal Government opted for their burial in the national cemetery, Abuja instead of their respective home towns.

However, a simple DNA test of the deceased and their  family members could have help identify who's who. This situation prompted the Nation Defence Headquarters to seek a permanent solution by acquiring the first ever DNA centre in the military and it is located at Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja.
