Man Hung Himself Over 25K Naira Debt Owed To Micro Finance Bank

35-year-old Badejo Adeyinka of Kubwa, a satellite town in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory was found dangling in the middle of his living room at 5am by his wife who woke up in the wee hours to use the toilet. He was rushed to the emergency room but was pronounced dead shortly.

The deceased was a former business owner that was faced with some financial difficulties. Amidst of all of that he owes a Micro Finance bank 125,000 Naira, a debt that was cleared to 25K Naira with the help of his brother, Emmanuel Adeyinka. The remaining 25K Naira was apparently a problem as he couldn't withstand the excessive pressure he was getting from the Mico Finance bank amidst other financial difficulties he was going through. His sad financial situation inspired his suicide.

He once jokingly told me that he would hang himself because of the pressure he was getting from the bank to return the borrowed money.
“But I always told him everything would be okay. I never knew he meant his words. Maybe if I had known, I would have tried to stop him. I pray his soul rests in peace,”  - Emmanuel Adeyinka
