Inside The Peugeot Car Assembly Plant In Kaduna, Nigeria

Since the Goodluck Jonathan administration  made its plans known to increase custom charges on imported vehicles by about 700% to discourage importation, we saw quite a few car assembly spring up in the country.

Innoson Motor is one of the pre-existing Nigerian own car company based in Nnewi, Anambra.. The policy has increased Innoson's prospect of higher profitability and expansion. Innoson imports all of its car parts but assembles in Nigeria. The company even gave the president one of its Jeep to show its appreciation of the policy. Ssiphouse camera caught the Jeep at Babcock University, Ilishan, Ogun State earlier this year. Only God knows what the president's  Jeep is doing there.

Stallion Group, a Nigerian-Indian family owned company has assembled for Nissan since the policy. The company's first assembled vehicle for Nissan was Nissan Patrol, a Jeep, but promises to bring Nigerians affordable cars very soon.

The then Peugeot car plant in Kaduna may have been revived as a result of the policy because the plant is currently assembling cars. See pictures of inside the Peugeot car assembly plant.
